The EMU™2200 is a self-contained, portable unattended noise and environmental data monitoring terminal. The EMU2200 collects data from multiple sources, can store it for extended periods as well as transmitting to ANOMS System 8 for further analysis and reporting. The unit is designed for immediate response to aircraft noise complaints, where set up and data collection can commence almost immediately with minimal configuration required.

Lochard's accurate, reliable and flexible monitoring terminal is the ideal portable data gathering component for comprehensive noise reporting. The unit delivers flexible configuration options, advanced signal processing, and sophisticated recognition technology suitable for all conditions and terrains.
Purpose Designed Architecture
The EMU2200 is more than a general purpose noise monitor. It combines custom-built electronics for maximum accuracy and reliability, open systems architecture for flexibility and scalability to suit any requirements, and state-of-the-art industrial design to survive the affects of constant transit and handling.
Lochard's Digital Microphone
The EMU2200's digital microphone collects 23-bit digital audio at 48 kHz. Using the audio recording and neural network recognition, airports can now confidently identify and isolate specific noise events for scrutiny and analysis. Audio can be downloaded and saved in .ogg format, for easy email attachment and distribution.
Lochard Noise Analyzer
Lochard's purpose built noise analyzer electronics incorporate advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) circuitry and firmware. This is to decode and analyze the acoustic signal in real time inside and provide the most comprehensive range of metrics and statistics including: simultaneous A, C and Z weightings, simultaneous slow, fast, impulse and peak weightings, and data for 31 third-octave bands, all at up to quarter-second sample rates. The Noise Analyzer provides on-board support for weather instruments and sophisticated battery management and testing.
Central Processing Unit
The Central Processing Unit's wide temperature range embedded PC component running open systems protocols, provides the EMU2 with almost limitless connectivity, storage, power management and communications options. Available with serial and USB connections for instruments such as emissions sensors and cameras. The EMU2200 can store and forward the collected information as required.
Unparalelled Accuracy
Digital Technology and special purpose clocks ensure an EMU2200's system clock will drift less than 0.5 seconds per 24 hours. This is approximately 1/10 of the average PC based clock drift, and even less when temperature tolerances are exceeded. The unit can regularly auto-calibrate to a central clock via a network connection, ensuring noise data from all units in the field correspond with other information feeds such as weather monitors, flight plans and radar tracks.
Power and Storage
The EMU2200 comes standard with sufficient non-volatile solid state storage to store up to ten days of normal acoustic, and weather data. The standard EMU2200 case has capacity for at least 12 hours battery life. Firmware ensures batteries are effectively charged and inbuilt alarms will be raised in the event of any deterioration in battery condition.
EMU2200 Housing
The EMU2200 housing is made of an Ultra High Impact structural copolymer. It is a watertight, dustproof, chemical resistant and corrosion proof casing that is codified and tested to MIL C-4150J (Military Standard), IP-65 for ingress protection.
Connectivity
In place of traditional limited LED displays, the EMU2200 contains a web server capable of delivering rich and comprehensive information using standard protocols for web browsers. The EMU2200 comes with an Ethernet port as standard, and can be fitted with wireless connections, enabling standard communications between remote EMU2200's and Lochard's ANOMS System 8.
Using a standard PC, or even a common hand held "Pocket PC" device, maintenance engineers and administrators can view and analyze EMU2200 information, perform maintenance checks and calibration tasks or upgrade firmware and software with ease. Using the interactive interface, upgrading firmware or software is even easier and faster than ever before.

LOWER LIFECYCLE COSTS
Longer Life
More features, more value, more often.
Robust
Fewer maintenance visits to re-set modems and change damaged components. Lower long term running costs.
Modular
Enabling more cost effective upgrades and easier expansions within existing networks and architecture.
Include Weather Monitoring
The EMU2200 can integrate field weather monitors to produce a more holistic view of the airports noise environment.
Internet Ready
The EMU2200 is a fully networked and internet ready unit designed to be seamlessly integrated into any existing communications infrastructure. |
Neural Network Recognition Technology
Equipped with Neural Network Technology, the EMU2200 is capable of "learning" differences between various types of noise events. Within a short time, the unit will accurately assess and classify all noise sources, differentiating between jet aircraft, propellers, helicopters and background noise. This is particularly useful in complex noise environments, where background noise may be high or unpredictable, or where it is critical to have the very accurate noise data.
